Caviar bar replaces Jason Atherton’s hot dogs at Harrods

A new Caviar Bar has opened at Harrods promising a “new level of indulgence”, where you can feast on 250g of Huso Huso Grand Cru Beluga caviar with a waffle, creme fraiche and finely chopped shallots for £1,940.

The bar, run by Harrods itself, has replaced Jason Atherton’s Hot Dogs by Three Darlings, which has closed after only eight months in operation.

Prices at the Caviar Bar start at £15 for a 10g helping of Baerii caviar served directly onto your hand or for a ‘Lemon Colonel’ – lemon sorbet with 5g Baerii caviar accompanied with 25ml of Qavjar vodka. A club sandwich with smoked salmon, sour cream and shallots topped with 20g of Baerii caviar costs £59, while a seafood platter consisting of a ‘curated selection of oceanic delicacies, complimented with 30g of Oscietre caviar’, weighs in at £195.

For Jason, the closure of his hot dog concession apparently brings to an end a four-year association with the Knightsbridge department store, following the closure of his Harrods Social last year. His London restaurant empire has undergone rapid changes in recent months, with the closure of his original Pollen Street Social and its successor, Mary’s, counterbalanced by the opening of Three Darlings in Chelsea, Sael in St James’s and Row on 5 in Mayfair.

In another high-profile departure, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton’s vegan fast-food chain Neat Burger has reversed out of the London restaurant market with the closure this month of its remaining two branches, in Soho and Camden, although it retains a presence at Boxpark Wembley.

Founded in 2019, the group grew to eight branches in the capital at its height, and attracted investment from actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibault Courtois. Outposts in New York and Dubai closed last year, but it is still trading at two locations in Milan.
